An as-yet unidentified Laurel man reportedly fired shots at police early this morning.  KTVQ.com reports that a man inside a home at 403 Roundhouse Drive fired the shots, according to Laurel Police Chief Rick Muson.  The man’s wife and two children were able to flee safely to the Laurel police station.

 

 

Along with deputies from the Yellowstone County and Stillwater County sheriff’s offices, including the SWAT team, and the Montana Highway Patrol, Laurel Police responded to the residence at about 2:30 a.m.  During a two-hour standoff, Capt. Mark Guy said the suspect fired shots toward the deputies and officers outside.  One trooper reportedly had a bullet ricochet and hit his boot.  Bullets also hit a Jeep SUV and a house across the street.  The suspect was apprehended at around 5:15 a.m. and taken to the Yellowstone County Detention Center.
