Clear As A Cloud Of Secrecy – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson
Conservatives might be less paranoid if the Obama administration stopped giving us reasons. Associated Press reports that several scientific groups, and the Society of Professional Journalists, sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency with complaints of government censorship. The EPA uses private scientists to do much of its work. However, the EPA doesn’t want these scientists to talk directly to Congress or the press about findings.
The EPA wants to release the scientist’s finding to the press. Among other comments about transparency in his 2008 campaign, candidate Obama said, “I’ll make our government open and transparent.” If transparency means that independent scientists must get government approval before releasing the findings of their own work – I’d hate to see Obama’s idea of secrecy. Isn’t it amazing how government can blow sunshine up our butts, and spew a dark cloud of information control and secrecy at the same time? It’s a neat trick if you can get away with it.
My name is E. Curtis Johnson. The EPA did NOT approve this message.
