Imagine you’re driving on the freeway. A big fast car shoves you off the road. When the police arrive, you’re informed that the car had the right to force you to the shoulder. The officer tells you that the other car can also legally travel faster than you. In the future, expect to drive slower than big fast cars. If this scenario sounds far fetched, you don’t understand net neutrality.

Until now, everyone online has had to play by the same rules. When an appeals court recently ruled the Internet shouldn’t be governed like utilities, in the future, big Internet companies could charge for priority service. Depending on how the FCC commissioners vote on May 15th, net neutrality could be replaced by selling Internet speed and access to big corporations. In other words: goodbye Internet competition and innovation.

My name is E. Curtis Johnson. Using Twitter, tell the FCC how you feel about dumping net neutrality. #sellouts #cronycapitalism #lackies #internetforsaletothehighestbidder.
