The Blame Game – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson
It’s a scientific fact that no murders were committed before the invention of guns. Oh that the argument over the tragedy in Santa Barbara was that simple. Many different reasons are blamed for why Elliott Roger killed six and injured 13 people.
Guns are blamed, one of the victims father blames Congress, and Ann Hornady, the film critic for the Washington Post, suggests that the shooter was influenced by Seth Rogan movies. Blame has been placed on the shooter’s parent’s connection to Hollywood, the NRA, and misogyny. Although, I haven’t heard anyone blame knives or cars, which the shooter also used in his rampage.
I’m E. Curtis Johnson. Because I’m able to tell certain parts of my anatomy from a hole in the argument, I blame mental illness for Elliott Roger’s horrendous actions. If this offends you, please blame (Facebook, my recorder, my video camera) for my actions! It’s 2014! Don’t you know that terrible acts are always the fault of some inanimate object or external factor? That way, political agendas can always be attached to tragedies.
