Crooks And Politicians: A Redundant Statement – Opinions From E. Curtis Johnson
Crooks in politics sounds redundant. For example: California State Senator Leland Yee was indicted on multiple counts of federal weapons and money laundering. Yee is an ultraliberal Democrat caught selling assault rifles. If that doesn’t prove there’s no hope for bipartisanship, I don’t know what does. Yee dropped out of the California Secretary of State race in March. In Tuesday’s primary election, Yee was still on the ballot.
Furthermore, over 287,000 voted for Yee. What’s worse: An elections process that didn’t know that an indicted candidate had dropped out, or over 287,000 voters who didn’t know Yee had been indicted? Don’t answer that!
My name is E. Curtis Johnson. In the Eagles classic rock song, “Hotel California,” Don Henley sings, “…you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.” For Californian’s who voted for an indicted politician who wasn’t supposed to be on the ballot, that lyric is both prophetic and an example of current affairs in the once Golden State.
