“Rewrite the second amendment,” says Former Supreme Court Justice John Stevens, according to Bloomberg. In Stevens’ opinion, the current second amendment argument revolves around whether the authors of the constitution included the Second Amendment because a standing army could threaten the sovereignty of the states, not because the founders wanted citizens to be able to defend themselves.

Stevens was on the losing side of a 2008 Supreme Court decision, District of Columbia v. Heller, which declared citizens do have a right to own and use a handgun for self-defense. I fear retired Justices, like Stevens more than I fear home invaders. Home invaders come through your door or window. Conceited legal intellectuals, like Stevens, will sneak through your woodwork by changing the rules of the game in the middle of the contest.

I’m E. Curtis Johnson. I’ve never owned a gun, but I prefer pistols at twenty paces to the misguided musings of Stevens, who’s past his time, but is still pretending he’s on the Supreme Court.
