I saw a post from a leader on the Crow Nation here in Montana: "64% of the Native American Community Voted for President-Elect Trump!"

Here's the post that I first spotted on CNN, the Crow Nation News on Facebook:

As I read the comments on the Crow Nation News Facebook page, I noticed that some of the commenters tried to push back on the stat and downplay the results of the exit polling.

However, I did notice that the New York Times is even reporting on the big gains Trump made in Indian Country. The NYT reports that 17 of the majority Native American counties across the US went Republican by an additional 10 points this election.

Here in Montana, President Trump won prominent Native American counties like Roosevelt, Big Horn, and Lake.

Evan Wilson with the Peak Insights polling firm (I call him the Montana numbers guy) says Trump even won majority Native American precincts in majority Native American towns like Pablo, Montana. Pablo is in Lake County.

But what about Big Horn, County on the other side of the state? Wilson tells me that Hillary Clinton won Big Horn County in 2016 by 6 points (43% to 49%). Trump just won Big Horn County in 2024 (49% to 47%).

Then there's the Democrat stronghold of Glacier County and the Blackfeet Nation. Evan Wilson tells me that Hillary Clinton beat Trump 2:1 in Glacier County in 2016 and netted 1,500 votes. "Last week, Kamala wins by less than 1,000 and margin cut to 19," Wilson tells me. "That might not sound like much, but in poli sci terms is a Glacier-sized shift in less than a decade."
