Outrageous, Gallatin County Standing in the Way of ICE in Bozeman
Over 1,000 illegal aliens are reportedly in Montana. Most of them are in Gallatin County. And now we find out that some Gallatin County officials are standing in the way of ICE? Here we go.
First, I gotta say- hats off to the Gallatin County Sheriff. We know that Bozeman and Gallatin County is getting targeted by the Mexican drug cartels. The photo above shows HSI/ICE arresting a Tren de Aragua operative in the Gallatin Valley. We know that a host of illegal aliens have been arrested already for committing additional crimes in the area, like wrong way drunk driving, sexual assaults, violent attacks, and more. The Gallatin County Sheriff is working to address this crime and is working with federal law enforcement to tackle this issue.
But here's the other deal- being in this country illegally in itself is a crime. Check out some of these quotes from a recent Bozeman Daily Chronicle story where the Gallatin County Attorney and the Gallatin County Commissioners appear to be obstructing federal law enforcement.
First, the county commissioners (all of whom are Democrats) admitted that they haven't even been communicating with ICE or other federal law enforcement agencies.
What? You have a huge problem with crime and illegal aliens and you're not even reaching out to federal law enforcement? The Chronicle added this:
In a letter from last week, the Gallatin County Commission voiced its willingness to entertain negotiations with ICE, so long as several stipulations are met. This would include that anyone held by ICE must have criminal charges and not just civil immigration-related issues — which are beyond the authority of local law enforcement.
Again- breaking into this country is a crime...but they want to dictate to the feds how this is supposed to work? Sounds like they are standing in the way of ICE instead of standing up for their own citizens.
The Gallatin County Attorney, also a Democrat, added this:
Gallatin County Attorney Audrey Cromwell raised her own issues in a press release, saying the proposal “exposes Gallatin County to significant legal liability and compromises the county’s ability to serve its own community members.”
She highlighted a case out of Bigfork, Montana where over a dozen illegal aliens were picked up by ICE at a job site as part of her reasoning for opposing the idea of working with federal law enforcement. So apparently she thinks it is ok for someone to enter this country illegally and then compete against a Montana company for business that doesn't hire cheap labor involving illegal aliens.
This is a dereliction of duty if you ask me. They are obstructing federal law enforcement by issuing these demands. After my rant on the radio this AM, one listener- Morgan in Helena- sent us this message on the app: "Call it what it is, Gallatin County is aiding and abetting illegal aliens." (Morgan, Helena - 05/01 @ 08:29am)
By the way, if any of the Gallatin County officials want to respond and/or join us on the radio- you have an open invite.
