Look at What’s About to Go Up at The Rockin’ R in Bozeman

Every great college town has a great college town bar. In Bozeman- we all know the Rockin' R. Just in time for the weekend, something cool is going up over the Rockin' R on Friday.

Mat McCallum tells us that this is only the third time the Rockin R sign has come off of the building in downtown Bozeman since it was first built in 1947. The sign even survived the March 2009 gas leak explosion that destroyed Boodles, the Rockin' R Bar, Montana Trails Gallery, and the American Legion Club.

As you can see above, a newly restored sign is scheduled to go up Friday morning. Mat and his family own Signs of Montana. They've been doing all the renovation work on the sign. He tells us the paint was faded and the vinyl was cracking off. They painted the white lettering and the black border around the lettering on the sign. They then clear coated the sign after painting the red, white and black. The sign also has all new neon units, transformers, primary and secondary electrical installed by Signs of Montana.

I love how they maintained the classic, legendary, Western look while also giving it the juice to light Main Street for the years ahead.
