Buried in the biased reporting from the Montana Legislature was another big story- Riley Gaines testifying to lawmakers in the Montana capitol.

Earlier this week, we told you about the biased reporting already coming out of Helena. That reporting stemmed from a conversation in the Montana Legislature about protecting women and girls.

Riley Gaines, the nationally renowned female athlete who has been a rock solid defender of women and girls sports, testified before the Montana Legislature on that very subject.

Riley Gaines: "I was a swimmer at the University of Kentucky, finished my career as 12 time all American, five time SEC champion, actually the SEC record holder in the 200 butterfly, making me one of the fastest Americans of all time. And in my senior year, my teammates and I were forced to compete against a man at our national championships. Maybe the members of this room are at least relatively familiar with how the competition portion of this meet went. Thomas, unsurprisingly, went from being ranked in the four hundreds and five hundreds nationally in his rightful category- to winning a national title in the women's category, beating out Olympians and American record holders. But that's not what I wanted to discuss. In addition to losing competitions and scholarships and roster spots and podium finishes to Thomas, we also had to share a locker room and change in front of the six foot four, fully intact, naked man. And as I have testified previously, we were not forewarned. We were not asked for our consent, and we did not give our consent to this exposure, and simultaneously our own exploitation."

Gaines was testifying on behalf of Montana House Bill 121.

Riley Gaines: "Imagine if all spaces were coed- coed prisons, where women are substantially at a greater risk of abuse, coed shelters, rape crisis centers, coed rooms, locker rooms, and changing spaces where minor girls would be changing with adult men. Coed dorms. Ced fraternity Greek housing- the end of sororities altogether. It's hard to imagine, but yet it's not- because it's the world of which we are living in. Every single day I learned of more women and girls who have fallen victim to the extreme agenda to erase women. It's gone too far, and Montana women should not have to imagine a society where sex based protections don't exist."

Here's the full testimony:

HB 121 was introduced by Rep. Kerri Seekins-Crowe (R-Billings). She joined us last Thursday on the radio. Here's our chat with her about that bill and more from last week:

And by the way, as I mentioned on the air last week- this bill is supported by an incredible organization, the Alliance Defending Freedom, that my wife Jessica works for to fight for women and girls all across the country. The Montana Family Foundation's Jeff Laszloffy has also been providing some great updates on this bill over the airwaves across Montana as well! Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) also highlighted the legislation during his State of the State Address Monday night.
