Billings Police Department Looking to Identify Arsonists
About 20 fires, considered to be the result of arson, have been set in Billings since March, and the Billings Police Department is asking the public to provide information to help its efforts in dealing with the criminal activity, according to a press release issued by Billings police on Wednesday. A “significant number” of the fires were set along Grand Avenue, but recently Dumpster fires have been set in the downtown area.
The press release said the public is encouraged to be aware and report any suspicious activity. On August 8: A fire was reported at about 3:20 a.m. at an unoccupied shop near the intersection of 56th Street West and Neibauer Road. On August 16: A fire occurred about 10:30 p.m. and caused heavy damage to a storage shed behind the Mattress King on Grand Avenue.
