Reports: Zinke Spokeswoman Assaulted by Liberal Activist
The longtime spokeswoman for Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke was physically assaulted by a Democratic operative on Capitol Hill Thursday. Politico, The Daily Caller, and other outlets are now reporting that a man who works for the liberal group known as American Bridge was arrested following the incident.
Here's a compilation of coverage from various outlets over the weekend.
The Daily Caller- EXCLUSIVE: Female Trump Official Allegedly Assaulted By Democrat Operative Speaks Out
Heather Swift, press secretary Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, was leaving a meeting with the House Committee on Natural Resources when she was allegedly assaulted by an American Bridge staffer, who reportedly pushed Swift violently while lunging after her boss.
U.S. Capitol Police quickly arrested the man, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
A person familiar with the incident said the man is Mark Stark, a left-wing activist with a history of disruptive behavior.
The Washington Post reported on Oct. 31, 2017, that Stark was arrested after arguing with police and refusing police orders at a parade in Virginia.
The Blaze: Male ‘Democratic operative’ assaulted female Interior Department staffer. Here’s how she responded.
Democratic operative David Brock founded American Bridge in 2010. He has since raised “tens of millions of dollars to support liberal candidates,” according to reports. The is called an “opposition research hub of the Democratic fundraising apparatus.”
Top donors to the group include billionaire George Soros, who has donated at least $1 million to the group. NextGen Climate Action, founded by Tom Steyer, regularly donates money to the group, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

A spokeswoman for the House committee, Katie Schoettler, said lawmakers “are appalled” to learn one of Zinke’s staffers was involved in the assault.
“These actions are reprehensible and have no place in this body,” she said. “We thank the U.S. Capitol Police for their quick response and professionalism.”
