VIDEO: Tester Will Take Trump’s Farm Aid
Liberal Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) is a full-time US senator who owns a million dollar home in Washington, DC, and yet the CBS Sunday show anchor laughably described him as "the only working farmer in the Senate."
Despite President Trump racking up trade victories (US beef to Japan, USMCA), Tester is bailing on the president's tough trade tactics with China. Nonetheless, Tester said he is likely to apply for his share of the farm aid pie for the farm he owns in Big Sandy.
Here's the video and the transcript of Tester on CBS' Face the Nation Sunday morning:
MARGARET BRENNAN: Senator Grassley reportedly will be applying for some of this aid for his family farm. Will you be tapping into it and apply for it as well?
SEN. TESTER: Well we'll see how it's going to be divvied up. I imagine wheat is going to get part of it and we do raise grains on my place and so we will see. But look, our place has been hurt by these tariffs just as every other farm has been hurt by these tariffs. And we will- we will see as it goes but I intend to- to take advantage of it because it will help pay the bills.
As Newsmax points out, Tester also continues to refuse to endorse fellow Montana Democrat Steve Bullock (D-MT) for president:
Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., on Sunday sidestepped — again — an endorsement of fellow Democrat Montana Gov. Steve Bullock for president.
In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Tester vowed to reveal his choice in the next week.
