
Suspect in Rape Case Dies After Chase
GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A suspect in a rape case who led law enforcement officers on a chase on Interstate 15 northwest of Great Falls has died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Cascade County sheriff's deputies tried to apprehend the man in Great Falls on Sunday afternoon for questioning in a rape that was reported a day earlier. Montana Highway Patrol officers were asked to assist as the suspect drove north on the interstate.
After a 30 minute chase, the suspect's pickup stopped in the median. Sheriff Bob Edwards says the suspect died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Officials would not comment on how the man was shot. His name has not been released.
No officers were injured.
