Man Dies After Falling into Lake While Ice Fishing
GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A 55-year-old Billings man died after falling into Fort Peck Lake while ice fishing over the weekend.
Garfield County Sheriff Frank Edwards tells the Great Falls Tribune (http://gftrib.com/1k13dIH ) that the victim and another man were ice fishing Saturday night when they became disoriented at about 11:30 p.m. and drove their all-terrain vehicles onto a pressure crack in the ice.
One man was able to get out of the water, but he was unable to rescue the victim.
Edwards says the survivor suffered from hypothermia and frostbite, but refused medical treatment.
The victim's name was being withheld while family members were notified.
