An explosion and large fire broke out at an oilfield containment facility in Northeastern Montana near Bainville Monday morning. One person is seriously injured following the explosion. Here are the latest details as of mid-Monday afternoon.

According to Lee Allmer, a Public Information Officer for Roosevelt County, a saltwater containment facility operated by Clean Solutions LLC near Bainville Montana experienced the explosion of one of their containment tanks. The explosion occurred around 10:30 Monday morning.

The estimated area of effect of the explosion was approximately 100 feet. As a result of this explosion one person sustained serious injuries and has been transported to Williston North Dakota for medical treatment.

Below is a photo of the fire as featured on the "Bakken Oilfield Fail of the Day" Facebook page. Earlier I also spotted a video posted that I believe may have been shared there as well.

Northeastern Montana did have some rough weather both in the forecast and in warnings issued Monday afternoon that could pose additional challenges to first responders.

In a post on X earlier Monday morning, the National Weather Service office in Glasgow shared this: "Several rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms will push through the area today. A few of the storms may be severe with wind gusts to 60 mph and hail up to 1" in diameter."
