Despite success, are the wheels about to come off the Montana GOP? That was the question we threw out there back in early June. After a big vote over the weekend, here's the new leaders of the Montana GOP.

I had the honor of emceeing the Montana GOP state convention banquet Friday night. I also got to do a Q&A with Guy Benson from Fox News. But then I had to bust back home early the next morning so we could take some friends out on the lake.

As we got off the lake and back into cell phone range, I had to check X to see who won the race for Chair and Vice Chair of the MT GOP, and this was my initial reaction Saturday evening: "Wow. Just getting back in cell coverage off the lake. Congrats Art Wittich and Stacy Zinn. MTGOP with bold leadership. Great news for midterm re-elections of Zinke, Downing, and Daines...plus- legislative gains."

Art Wittich is a solid conservative from Gallatin County who served several years in the state legislature and was elected Chairman of the Montana GOP. Stacy Zinn is the badass former head of the DEA in Montana who ran for Congress in the Eastern District Congressional primary and was elected Vice Chair of the Montana GOP.

Here's what else was interesting from the weekend vote at the Montana GOP state convention- the 9 Republican state senators who voted with Democrats during the legislative session were not allowed to vote in the party leadership elections since the party rescinded recognition of "the 9" earlier during the legislative session.
