Today's story isn't about an interesting house though.

We've seen the For Sale signs on this parcel across from the new Costco for a while, and every time I drive by, I wonder about the asking price. We're talking primo commercial real estate here, in the fastest-growing retail/commercial neighborhood in Billings.

Hotels are popping up as fast as they can build them nearby, with a mix of restaurants, shopping, and industries of all sizes in the surrounding area. The freshly built KOA world headquarters is just up the road. Bordered by Zoo Drive, Gable Road, Hesper Road, and Shiloh, the lot is ripe for development. At $496,292 per acre, it's not cheap. The listing touts some of the lot features,

Direct access to Interstate 90 and just a 10-minute drive to downtown Billings. Some preliminary site layout work has been completed. Great demographics with an average of $112,000 within a 5-mile radius

West End growth seems unstoppable.

Montanans are funny sometimes how we like to get angry at out-of-staters "buying up all of our farmland", but this 83-acre chunk of farmland hasn't been owned by a farmer for a while. Tax records indicate the current owner is a real estate investment firm in Illinois. And if a farmer wants to cash out and retire, it's certainly their right to do.

What would you like to see move into this prime spot? Here's our top crazy idea (that is highly unlikely).
