Follow the Northern Lights to Freedom from Domestic Violence

Northern Lights provides a welcoming space where survivors can recover and determine a path forward.  A unique feature to this coordination is that they report the torment only once at the initial visit and assessment.  Hard to heal if one has to retell the awful stories over and over again.

From there options will be available.  Northern Lights is a network that include the Billings Police Department, city prosecutors, clerks of the court, civil and legal aid.  If the survivor wishes justice, they will bring the heavy end of the gavel down on the abuser.

On the flip side will be recovery support for the escaped survivors.  I just learned about Northern Lights from Angela's Piazza, who have started a support group there on Wednesdays.  YWCA provides a secure shelter away from the trauma and transitioning services to better living.

All options may be exercised at the survivor's discretion and when she is ready.  As their website explains "Our selected professional providers are committed to providing services at no costs to you, attentive to your inclusion and accessibility as demonstrated through their cultural responsiveness."

One more note.  Northern Lights will not discriminate on the basis of anything.  Every person who has experienced domestic violence will find an open door here.
