While Montana has never been a destination for exotic foods (steak and potato options are menu staples), choices for finer dining and unique entrees are growing across Big Sky Country, with numerous James Beard-nominated chefs and local restaurants creating fantastic dishes across the state.
Big Sky Country has its share of national chain restaurants and fantastic mom-and-pop eateries. You'll find a Taco Johns, Subway, or McDonald's in almost every town larger than a few thousand people. Wendy's Named The Most Expensive Chain in the US.
Despite McDonald's getting attention lately for its recent price hikes, Wendy's is ranked the most expensive fast food chain in the US, according to Mashed. They noted that in the early 1970s, most fast-food burgers cost around 30 cents. Wendy's charged nearly double at 55 cents. According to the company, there are seventeen Wendy's locations in Montana. Billings has the most, with five. There are two each in Missoula, Bozeman, and Kalispell. The smallest Montana towns with Wendy's are Laurel and Miles City.
