Whiskey Is Huge in Montana. Who Has The Best?
Montana loves many things, and one of them is good whiskey. From smooth rye whiskey to drink fire-side to a classic old-fashioned, there is a whiskey for everyone.
Whiskey is a point of pride for most distilleries in Montana. Wherever there is a distillery, there is whiskey. Most of them are delicious, and locals regularly buy Montana brands over national ones. So one question remains: where is the best whiskey in Montana?
Uproxx made a list of the Single Best Bottle of Whiskey in Every State, and the selection for Montana might make a few locals upset. The best single bottle of whiskey in Montana is Glacier Distilling Company's North Fork Rye Whiskey. This whiskey is one of the best from Western Montana and is one of the eight whiskeys Glacier Distilling makes. It's a solid bottle of whiskey.
Though this is a great selection, I think there are a few other local distilleries that are worth mentioning as well.
First off, there is Willie's Distillery in Ennis, Montana. This is one of the best distilleries in the state and has been around for quite some time. Willie's Bighorn Bourbon Whiskey is highly regarded and sought after by locals and tourists, and has won multiple awards. Willie's Canadian Whiskey should also be a contender for best whiskey, if you ask me.
Another fantastic whiskey from a local distillery is Bozeman Spirits' 1889 Whiskey. It's a whiskey that doesn't try to get fancy but tastes perfect. Also, Bozeman Spirits has a Bobcat Gold Bourbon that is perfect for a cold winter night next to the fire.
We could talk forever about all the incredible whiskeys in our great state of Montana. When picking the best, it all comes down to personal preference. Do you prefer rye, bourbon, or Canadian whiskeys? It's up to you.
