Are You A Red Dirt Fan? Deadwood Hosting Festival In January
I know we have some Red Dirt fans in Montana, even though it seems we don't get many artists this way playing that style of music. Though, if you're willing to travel a few hours (and want to have a wild weekend), Deadwood has THE event you need to know about.
Deadwood Red Dirt Music Festival
For the 9th year in a row, the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota is hosting the Deadwood Red Dirt Music Festival.
On its launch in 2015, the festival welcomed nearly 5,000 fans across two days highlighting the best in Red Dirt music.
This year, on Friday, January 12th, and Saturday, January 13th, Deadwood welcomes Corey Kent & Jackson Dean as the headlining acts, with even more amazing artists in the lineup... Ned LeDoux, Tanner Usrey, Clayton Mullen, and Braxton Keith.
What's Red Dirt Music?
If Red Dirt music is new to you... it is named after the color of the soil in Oklahoma and Texas. Both states are home to Outlaw Country legends such as Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Another way of thinking about Red Dirt music is that it is "country music with attitude", or a sound that is between country and rock.
