Montana Makes List For Worst In The U.S.
Every day I see something absurd happening while driving. Someone actually said to me one day, "I have just never seen anything like this". What were they referring to? Our driving, if you can call it that.
The other day I was pulling into a local business and a guy actually yelled to another vehicle, "Nice blinker A******". Clearly the older gentlemen turning didn't use his turn signal. I just thought, "wow, that was unnecessary, he can't even hear you yelling".
Unfortunately, I think our teens are learning more bad habits when it comes to driving, than they are good habits.
WalletHub did a study that involved the following stats and found that Montana has the worst teen drivers in the U.S.
Safety -Number of teens texting, drinking and driving, speeding, quality of roads, etc.
Economic Environment -Cost of tickets, red light tickets, non-seatbelt use tickets, etc.
Driving Laws -Presence of occupant laws, presence of impaired driving laws, presence of texting/distracted driving laws, etc.
I am guessing that the state that is the safest for teen drivers is because they have a ton of public transportation options, use ride-sharing daily, and don't actually have a lot of teen drivers.
Which state is the safest for teen drivers?
New York
New York has the most driving schools per capita, the seventh-fewest teen DUI arrests per capita, and the seventh-lowest share of teens who text while driving. New York also has the seventh-lowest auto insurance premiums in the nation.
As we are entering into another school year, let's keep in mind there are going to be a lot of teen drivers on the road. Let's be respectful, patient, and let's try and not yell explicit words out our windows. We can be better.
