Residents of Lincoln, Montana woke up to flashing lights and blocked streets this morning after a Lifeflight helicopter crashed while attempting to land in the middle of town. The incident forced the closure of Main Street as emergency crews rushed in.

Kalispell Airport Crash Earlier This Month
The most recent crash before today happened on August 11, 2025, at the Kalispell City Airport. A Socata TBM 700 turboprop carrying four people lost control during landing.

The plane slid into several parked aircraft, igniting a fire that destroyed both the landing plane and the planes on the ground. Miraculously, all four passengers survived, though two suffered minor injuries.

Billings Community Mourned a Respected Leader in June
Earlier this summer, tragedy struck Billings when Yellowstone County Commissioner John Ostlund lost his life in a plane crash. On June 19, 2025, just after 2:15 p.m., his plane went down and caught fire.

Fire crews quickly put out the flames but discovered that Ostlund, the sole occupant, had not survived. His passing left a deep void in the Billings community, where he had served faithfully for many years.
