Billings Concert Marks 25th Anniversary of 9/11 With Free Meal for Veterans
There are some dates on the calendar that never become ordinary. September 11 is one of them.
This year marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001. Here in Billings, the anniversary will be observed with an evening of remembrance, music, and appreciation for the people who have dedicated their lives to serving others.
Veterans Navigation Network is hosting its “Thank You for Your Service” concert on Friday, September 11, at the 406 Events Lawn near Red Oxx in downtown Billings.
Veterans, active service members, first responders, and their immediate families can attend for free. A limited number of public tickets are also available, and advance registration is strongly encouraged.
Billings 9/11 Concert Will Honor Veterans and First Responders
The Thank You for Your Service concert is not meant to feel like a formal ceremony where everyone sits quietly and watches from a distance.
Instead, organizers are creating the kind of evening where people can share a meal, listen to music, spend time together and personally thank the veterans, service members and first responders who are part of our community.
Local cover band Lampman Hotel will headline the concert, with Jessica Allestad also scheduled to perform.
Before the music begins, the program will include the national anthem, a color guard and the Pledge of Allegiance. The ceremony will give everyone a chance to pause and remember those whose lives were lost or forever changed on September 11.
Free Dinner Comes With Every Concert Ticket
Doors at the 406 Events Lawn will open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the concert program at 7 p.m.
Every ticket includes admission to the concert and a meal of burgers, hot dogs, chips and cookies. Tickets are free for veterans, active service members, first responders and their immediate families.
A limited number of tickets are available to the general public for $20. Money raised through public ticket sales will help Veterans Navigation Network keep the event free for the people being honored.
Anyone planning to attend should reserve tickets for the Billings concert as soon as possible.
Billings Veterans Concert Includes Side by Side Raffle
Veterans Navigation Network will also hold its “Side by Side with Our Veterans” raffle during the evening.
Raffle ticket sales will close at 7:30 p.m., with the drawing scheduled for 9 p.m. You do not need to attend the concert to win. Winners will be contacted by phone or email and announced during Veterans Navigation Network’s Facebook Live drawing.
Information about the raffle is included with the complete Thank You for Your Service concert details.
Parking and What to Bring to the 406 Events Lawn
The concert will be held outdoors, so guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for the evening.
Accessible parking will be available in front of the Red Oxx store on North 13th Street. Additional street parking is available throughout the surrounding area.
A bar will be open with alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks available for purchase. Complimentary water will also be provided.
