Look: C-130 Hercules Lands On Highway Near Great Falls
Last week, we published an article about a news release issued by the 120 Airlift Wing of the Montana Air National Guard and the Montana Department of Transportation regarding a road closure east of Great Falls.

The road closure was due to what was described as a military exercise that would be taking place.
Needless to say, closing down a major highway east of Great Falls was a logistical challenge, but it needed to be done for training purposes.

So what was the closure all about?
Well, we managed to witness the military training exercise firsthand, and let me tell you, it was incredible!
The 120 Airlift Wing of the Montana Air National Guard landed two C-130 Hercules planes on the highway east of Great Falls!
Yes, you heard, right... They literally landed two of those behemoths on Highway 89/87 just east of Great Falls.

In all honesty, this was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen.
What impressed me most was that they could literally turn the C-130 Hercules planes around on the four-lane highway.
I had no idea these massive planes were so maneuverable.
I would wager that more military exercises similar to this will be taking place over the next few years as the missile upgrade project continues to get underway here in Central Montana.
