Old Photographs Capture Our Imagination

As I get older, I feel myself getting more nostalgic, certainly more than when I was younger.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds something magical about old photographs that draws you in.

Preserving Montana’s History Through Photography

Perhaps it's the way these photos show how different life was back then, and yet still so familiar to our own time.

Sure, the poses might be a bit stiffer in these old photos, but often they are of the same subject matter.

Family portraits, vacations, and landmarks are all the same things we take pictures of today, taken for the same reason: preservation.

KEEP SCROLLING: Stunning vintage photos capture the beauty of America's national parks

Today these parks are located throughout the country in 25 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The land encompassing them was either purchased or donated, though much of it had been inhabited by native people for thousands of years before the founding of the United States. It's hard to imagine what Yellowstone National Park would look like in black and white. We are so used to seeing the colors that make it one of America's favorite travel destinations. Jezel Doughert's grandmother passed away and like many of us do, she spent hours going through years and years of history, from old yearbooks to news clippings, to pictures. Jezel sent me a piece of history that, if not for her, I wouldn't be able to share with you.
