Disclaimer we will be discussing the Elf on the Shelf in this article, so be warned it might not be for younger readers.

I realize I might come across as a bit of grinch with this article, but I don't feel I'm alone in my disdain for the popular "Elf on the Shelf" tradition.

In fact, I know I'm not alone, as even in my own household, when I asked my wife, "What are your thoughts about 'Elf on the Shelf'" and she responded, "It's a pain in butt."

Don't get me wrong, I love the joy that it brings my kids every morning when they wake up trying to find our elf that has been named "Elfin."

What I don't enjoy is remembering to move it, remembering where he's already been, or the feeling of inadequacy thanks to social media, which shows people with seemingly too much time on their hands coming up with amazing little scenarios that their elf has gotten into.

It's Not Just The Elf On The Shelf Either

This time of year can be stressful without all the extra little things we have to do.

I saw a meme the other day that said,

Hey, on top of all the stress during the busiest month of the year don't forget to dress up your kid next week for Grinch Day, Reindeer Day, Polar Express Day, Holly Day and Cheer Day.

Like I said, I'm probably coming across as a big "Bah Humbug" person, but I promise you I'm not.

I love Christmas and want my kids to have amazing memories, but sometimes I feel that we're setting them up for the same stress, as they'll feel the pressure to do the same for their kids in the future as we are doing today.

If you, like myself, find yourself getting stressed out thanks to the Elf on the Shelf, take a break and laugh at the following memes. 👇
