Meet Buddy, The Sweet Dog Looking For A New Home
I don't believe any dog is inherently "bad". However, some dogs naturally seem to make better family pets than others. If you're looking for an awesome dog, you have to check out Billings' featured Wet Nose Wednesday pet this week, Buddy!
Buddy is a seven-year-old Australian Shepherd mix.
This sweet boy landed at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter about a week ago. He was surrendered because his human(s) were moving and couldn't take him with them. Heartbreaking, right?

Buddy appears to have been well-cared for, and he's very sweet.
Despite his midlife age, Buddy is quite energetic and playful. Aussies are known for being smart dogs, and this pup appears to be quite intelligent. Buddy knows how to sit. I forgot to quiz him with "lay down", "stay", and "shake" today, but I suspect he is a quick learner and would happily conquer any command you can toss at him.

Lindsay Dillon, Volunteer Coordinator at YVAS, said that Buddy is in playgroup with four or five other dogs at the shelter, and he enjoys playing with them. He'd probably do well in a home with other pets and respectful children.
Soft fur and a big smile.
Buddy is a medium-sized dog who weighs around 50 pounds. He's very handsome with the classic Aussie tri-color coat, and his fur is very soft. I joked with Dillon that I should be using whatever kind of conditioner this pup uses on his coat
Hiking Hounds is this Sunday, August 31
Can't adopt right now, but want to have some fun with a dog? During the summer, the shelter has a fun program on the last Sunday of each month, where residents have a chance to take an adoptable dog on a hike.
Hiking Hounds departs from the YVAS office at 8 AM on Sunday, and this month they're headed to Riverfront Park. Find out more HERE.
