You Can Ride the Ski Lift at Red Lodge Mountain This Summer—And It's Awesome

I found out last year that you can ride the ski lift at Red Lodge Mountain during the summer. How have I not known this sooner? Maybe it’s because I haven’t strapped on skis since Clinton was in office, and I’m clearly way out of the loop on summertime activities at ski resorts.

Last year, my friend Anne shared some fun photos of her and her husband riding the lift at Red Lodge Mountain on a gorgeous summer day. It looked amazing, and now I’m feeling like it’s finally time to take the family for a scenic chairlift ride up the mountain. None of us ski, but I know my kids would love the views and the adventure.

Red Lodge Mountain might not offer the glitzy zip lines and alpine coasters like some of the mega resorts, but they do offer a fun, low-key way to enjoy the mountain in the summer. Their summer operations kick off June 19, 2025, and run Thursdays through Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Chairlift rides on the Stache Express are just $10, and kids 5 and under ride free. Bonus: If you’re a season pass holder, your lift ride is included. They’ve also got a free disc golf course you can play even outside lift hours, and the Bierstube is open from 10:30 AM to 6 PM, serving grab-and-go food starting at 10:30, and hot food and drinks from 11 on.
