Billings Public Library Launches a Summer Full of Fun for All Ages
I love the public library system.
Despite living in a digital world, I much prefer turning pages in an actual book. And I love that my library check-out receipt shows how much money I saved borrowing the books instead of purchasing them. After all, I rarely read a novel more than once, so why buy it when I can read it for free?
While I primarily use the library for checking out books, the Billings Public Library offers so much more. One example is their upcoming summer activity calendar. With kids wrapping up school, parents might be looking for options to keep youngsters busy and their minds active.

Free Summer Fun for All Ages at Billings Library
This year’s theme is Color Our World, and registration opens June 3. Events start rolling on June 17, with everything from puppet shows and balloon art to VR gaming, podcasting, and even a visit from Arthur of PBS KIDS fame.
For the younger crowd, the lineup includes weekly Junior Adventurers workshops, animal safety demos, and a celebration of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Teens can dive into hands-on art, improv, and Teen Nights in the high-tech CO+LAB.

Adults won’t be left out either—expect a visit from Longmire author Craig Johnson, a guided tour of DanWalt Gardens, and creative workshops like painting miniatures.
The library could be coming to your neighborhood.
Keep an eye out for the return of the BPL Bike Library, which brings books and tech gear to parks and local hangouts all summer long. They’re even taking virtual reality setups and other cool gadgets from the CO+LAB on the road.
The Summer Reading Program is about more than just reading—it helps keep kids learning while school’s out, and it gives everyone in the community something fun (and educational) to do. All activities are free.
Check out the full schedule on the Billings Public Library website and get ready to make this summer a colorful one.
