Heads Up: Hesper Road Closure Begins August 4 for Major Utility Work

Drivers on the West End will want to mark their calendars for Monday, August 4, when a stretch of Hesper Road will be completely closed for several months. The closure will impact the section between Shiloh Road and 48th Street West. It is tied to a major infrastructure project crucial for Billings’ future water needs.

The work involves a comprehensive list of utility improvements, including deep road excavation, stormwater and reservoir drain installations, utility relocations, culvert work, and additional projects. It’s all part of the $68 million West End Water Treatment Plant and reservoir system, a major Public Works initiative that aims to strengthen our city’s water supply for decades to come.

City engineers are cautiously optimistic that the project will wrap up in time for Thanksgiving (November 27), at which point Hesper Road will reopen, just in time for holiday traffic and maybe a little snow?
